Claiming PPI
Anyone claiming PPI needs to be prepared for what will likely take place. Almost all of these claims are denied. These policies are written with that intention in place so that they don’t have to pay out. PPI is a way for the entities to get rich and for the consumers to be the ones suffering because of it.
Those that are successful with claiming PPI though only end up with a small amount of money. They were lead to believe it would be enough to pay for their mortgage, car payment, and other bills for up to 12 months but they got much less than that. As a result they are struggling to make ends meet.
Of course most people didn’t read all of the details of their mis sold PPI cover. Others didn’t get an opportunity though. This cover was lumped into the loan documents they signed and they weren’t given any other information other than they could file a claim if they lost their job or they became ill and couldn’t work. That was only a portion of the overall requirements for claiming PPI though.
At the same time, the realization that they have spent a large sum of money for that poor cover comes to mind. It isn’t as much with a credit card as that is based on the amount that is due on it. However, if you do carry a hefty credit card balance then those monthly charges are going to eat at you month after month.
With a loan, the percentage is often based on that loan amount. If you borrow a large amount of money though or you have a lengthy term for the repayment then the cost of PPI insurance adds up to plenty of money you could have saved for any expenses that came your way.
If your experience with claiming PPI hasn’t been what you thought, don’t beat yourself up for it. Chances are you weren’t given the right information from the very start to make a well informed decision. While you are understandably upset over that, you need to take action to get your money back.
Even if you did get a portion of money from claiming PPI, that doesn’t mean you aren’t entitled to some type of refund. The first thing to realize is that you don’t have to have such cover in place. If it is, contact that entity and let them know you don’t want to continue it.
Such notification should be in writing and at the same time you should be asking them for a refund. Today there are more lenders doing so without a fight. They know that practices involving PPI cover are being frowned upon. They don’t want to be associated with not working with consumers. They also don’t want to be named in any class action lawsuit.
