Reclaiming PPI

You may have heard information circulating out there about reclaiming PPI funds you have paid in. There are plenty of reasons why you want to look into this further. For a very long time many lenders have been involved with shady practices to get consumers to buy it. In fact, many of them never made it sound optional but rather something that the customer had to have in order to be approved for a credit card or a loan.

Others were sold the cover but they weren’t really eligible for it. If they had ever pursued a claim they would have had it denied for a variety of reasons. This could have been due to them not working or being self employed. There are many other guidelines too such as medical conditions that exist and could have make a person a poor candidate for such insurance cover.

The cost of PPI cover is expensive and the premiums add up fast over the course of a loan term. They also can result in credit card balances staying high and that costs you even more in interest. Reclaiming PPI allows you the opportunity to stop paying for those fees. You can get them off a current loan or a current credit card you have. At the same time you can file to get a refund of what you have paid in.

Some people are eligible for every penny they have paid for mis sold PPI cover if they can show they were never eligible for it to begin with. They can also do so if they can show they were never explained that it was optional rather than mandatory. There are plenty of opportunities out there in this department so it is important to evaluate your own situation and see what can come of it.

In the eyes of many consumers though it isn’t just about the money. Reclaiming PPI is something they do to make a statement about the rights of consumers. They want to make sure other types of insurance programs and businesses don’t develop similar programs that will take advantage of consumers.

If you feel that you may have a legitimate claim against PPI costs, then get into action now to have it evaluated. Your first course of action is to contact the entity that sold you the insurance. If you don’t have your original loan documents then ask the lender for a copy of them .You can go through them and see what information was provided to you.

If you have a credit card with PPI cover ask them for the documentation that you authorized to pay for such premiums. From that point you can determine what your status is. If you feel you shouldn’t be paying for the PPI cover and a refund is owed then submit a request to that entity. If they don’t provide you with a refund that you feel is adequate in 14 days then take further action through an advocate agency.
